WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) gave an opening statement to the House Appropriations Committee regarding the Fiscal Year 2024 Agriculture Appropriations Bill. WASHINGTON, D.C. – On a 213-208 vote, the U.S. House of Representatives today passed H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act by Congresswoman Julia Letlow, Ph.D. (LA-05).
“As a mom of two and a former educator, I believe for children to succeed, they need families and schools to work together as partners throughout the learning process,” Letlow said. “After spending nearly a year and a half working to pass this bill, I’m grateful that we’re finally able to advance this critical legislation.”

START, LA - Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) today sent a letter to Governor John Bel Edwards urging the state to formally request USDA assistance for farmers impacted by recent storms in Northeast Louisiana. With record rainfalls across the region last week, many soybeans, cotton, and corn growers suffered substantial damage to their crops going into their scheduled harvest.
START, LA - Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will invest more than $2.4 million in improving healthcare across Louisiana’s Fifth District. The funding is targeted to rural communities and will be dispersed through the USDA’s Rural Development Community Facilities Emergency Rural Health Care program.
