This bill will amend the Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) and improve the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honey Bees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program (ELAP).

START, LA - Today, Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) announced four new grants that will bring the Fifth District $16,326,482 million. Congresswoman Letlow wrote numerous letters of support and worked diligently to bring the grants to fruition, as they all bring in funding specifically for projects located in the Fifth District.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) opposed an amendment that seeks to allow federally funded abortion travel by the Department of Defense during today’s markup meeting of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. This amendment was brought forth by Democrats in opposition to the Republican bill that would end Biden’s illegal abortion travel policy enacted in 2022.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - This week, Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) hosted Madison DiCarlo, a recent May graduate of West Monroe High School in Washington, D.C., in recognition of her winning submission in the 2023 Congressional Art Competition representing Louisiana’s Fifth Congressional District. Her art piece is displayed in the Halls of Congress alongside other congressional winners from across the country.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On a 213-208 vote, the U.S. House of Representatives today passed H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act by Congresswoman Julia Letlow, Ph.D. (LA-05). 

“As a mom of two and a former educator, I believe for children to succeed, they need families and schools to work together as partners throughout the learning process,” Letlow said. “After spending nearly a year and a half working to pass this bill, I’m grateful that we’re finally able to advance this critical legislation.”

With 73 Republican co-sponsors, Letlow’s bill seeks to put in place concrete legal protections that will ensure parents always have a seat at the table when it comes to their child’s education.
 
The legislation is built on five, common-sense principles.
