WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Julia Letlow has secured $1.3 million in Community Project Funding to purchase new police cruisers and other equipment for local law enforcement in Louisiana’s 5th District.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Through her work on the House Appropriations Committee, Congresswoman Julia Letlow has delivered nearly $4 million in Community Project Funding to support LSU’s efforts to reduce flood risk in South Louisiana.

The $3.7 million investment will be used to establish the Center for Risks, Insurability, and Sustainable Protection (CRISP) at LSU. The funding passed as part of the FY 2026 Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations bill which cleared Congress on Thursday.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Congresswoman Julia Letlow announced she has secured $1.3 million in funding for Louisiana’s law enforcement in the 5th district.

According to Letlow the funding will be distributed through the Red River law enforcement planning council.

As the snails advance in Louisiana’s waterways, they destroy aquatic ecosystems, eating their way through native flora and fauna and infecting other animals with parasites. Their presence can spell ruin for a rice crop or a crawfish pond.

Hot and humid climates of the Mississippi River Valley are teeming with invaders like the apple snail that wreak havoc on ecosystems and agriculture.

BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture awards LSU AgCenter $1 Million in federal grant funds to create the Mississippi River Invasive Species group.

The group will promote projects that unite scientists from institutions throughout Mississippi for species that pose threats to the environment and economy.

U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow helped secure the $1 million federal grant for the LSU AgCenter, center representatives said.

Bipartisan legislation introduced this week in the House would automatically extend the National Flood Insurance Program.  Sponsored by U.S. Reps. Troy Carter (D-LA), Julia Letlow (R-LA), Cleo Fields (D-LA), Clay Higgins (R-LA), Mike Ezell (R-MS) and Lizzie Fletcher (D-TX), the legislation would ensure the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) continues to serve its core purpose even if Congress misses a key deadline to reauthorize it.

She met with President Donald Trump on his recently announced Farmer Bridge Assistance Program.

Kennedy says she is pleased with the President’s plan during what she calls a “tough” time for farmers.

In 2020, Letlow’s late husband passed away before being sworn in as Louisiana’s 5 District representative. Letlow ran a special election to fill the seat and won.
