Letlow Votes to Repeal Biden's Energy Tax

February 26, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Julia Letlow voted in support of legislation to block the implementation of a natural gas tax passed under President Biden and finalized near the end of his time in office.

The Waste Emissions Charge (WEC) imposes heavy regulatory burdens on oil and gas facilities, threatening higher energy prices for Louisiana families and greater dependence on foreign oil.

“President Biden’s war on affordable energy created dramatic price increases for consumers. If fully implemented, this regulatory attack on American-made energy would increase the inflation pain Louisianans have experienced in recent years. Under President Trump’s leadership, we are charting a new course by reversing harmful regulations, restoring American energy independence, and acting to lower costs for all Americans,” said Congresswoman Julia Letlow.

H.J. Res. 35 passed the House of Representatives via the Congressional Review Act, which provides Congress a tool to overturn federal agency regulations. The legislation now advances to the Senate, where passage only requires 51 votes.

Letlow has been a vocal advocate for embracing domestic energy production and Louisiana’s oil and gas industry during her time in Congress.
