Letlow Secures Support for Maternal Health Kits
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Julia Letlow has secured $5 million in funding signed into law by President Trump to increase support for new mothers and infants through the distribution of newborn supply kits.
Letlow has collaborated with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to create a pilot program providing essential items such as diapers, wipes, breastfeeding supplies, and postpartum mental health resources to new moms in need. This initial investment builds upon her NEST Act initiative, aimed at providing support to new moms and their babies in underserved regions.
The funding will be administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration within HHS. In the past, Letlow has partnered with Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge and the non-profit Baby2Baby to deliver the kits to new moms.
“Motherhood is a tremendous blessing and the highest calling of my life. Working with private sector partners, I want all moms to have the support they need to create a nurturing environment for their child. This funding, which I secured through the Appropriations Committee, is a good start toward providing moms in underserved and rural areas with the support they need to raise healthy babies,” said Congresswoman Julia Letlow.
