Letlow Praises Trump Administration Approval of Disaster Assistance for North Louisiana
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Trump Administration has approved a Major Disaster Declaration for North Louisiana, triggering federal funding to assist local communities in recovery efforts. Congresswoman Julia Letlow has repeatedly advocated for federal support for recovery efforts, including after the storm and in recent days.
“Our communities in North Louisiana were hit hard by the ice storm, and I want to thank President Trump for being responsive to our needs and providing much-needed support for recovery efforts," said Congresswoman Letlow. "I will fight to ensure that FEMA holds up their end of the bargain and helps our communities that suffered significant damage."
The following parishes have been approved for direct federal assistance: Bienville, De Soto, East Carroll, Franklin, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, and West Carroll Parishes. Local governments have up to 30 days to apply for public assistance.
Communities will be eligible for debris removal assistance as well as emergency protective measures. Additional aid for individuals may be provided at a later date if requested by the State of Louisiana. Constituents should continue to report damage on their own property to damage.la.gov.
