Letlow to FEMA: Provide all resources necessary for flood cleanup
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the wake of severe storms slamming parts of Louisiana with over two feet of rain, Congresswoman Julia Letlow is asking FEMA to provide all resources necessary for communities to clean up damage left by extreme flooding.
In a letter to the agency, Letlow noted the extreme impact of torrential rainfall, high winds, flash flooding, and tornadoes produced by Tropical Storm Arthur. Parts of Letlow's district in Avoyelles Parish, as well as surrounding communities, were especially hard hit by severe flooding.
"Louisianians are strong and resilient in the face of natural disasters. I stand ready to partner with the Trump Administration to support Louisiana's disaster recovery efforts in the wake of Tropical Storm Arthur," Congresswoman Letlow wrote. "I urge FEMA to utilize all resources necessary to ensure appropriate and effective disaster relief is provided to the state and localities during this time of immense need."
Letlow's constituents in Avoyelles Parish experienced record rainfall in a short time span, with other parishes in South Louisiana also reporting significant rainfall and damage.
