January 15, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Julia Letlow has secured $1.3 million in Community Project Funding to purchase new police cruisers and other equipment for local law enforcement in Louisiana’s 5th District.

The funding will be distributed through the Red River Delta Law Enforcement Planning Council, ensuring the purchase of a variety of law enforcement equipment, technology, and vehicles for communities in rural Louisiana. The funding passed as part of the FY 2026 Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations bill which cleared Congress on Thursday.

“In order to keep our communities safe, law enforcement must have access to safe and reliable equipment. I secured this funding so that law enforcement in our rural communities could quickly respond to emergencies and keep Louisianans safe,” said Congresswoman Julia Letlow. “I will continue to use my seat on the House Appropriations Committee to support law enforcement and protect the safety of our citizens.

The below law enforcement agencies will benefit from the funding, which includes Police Cruisers, K-9, Correctional Surveillance Systems, Automatic External Defibrators, Full Body Armor Suits, Mobile Data Terminals, In-Unit Mobile Radios, License Plate Readers, Security Camera Boxes, Scouting Cameras, Full Body Scanners, Blacklight Reactive Markers, and Portable Radios.
