Letlow Delivers Funding for New Flood Rescue Training Facility in Baton Rouge

February 4, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Julia Letlow has secured $3.5 million in Community Project Funding to support the construction of an advanced, indoor water rescue training facility in Baton Rouge for first responders.

The funding passed as part of the FY 2026 transportation funding bill, which cleared Congress on Tuesday and was signed into law by President Trump. The facility will be housed at the Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy, and will feature a simulation tank and other rescue environments aimed at providing year-round, specialized training for first responders across the state.

“A significant portion of the funding I’ve steered to the Capital Region has focused on public safety and natural disaster preparation. With this new facility, we are investing in quality training for our heroic first responders - and ultimately the safety of Louisianans who often face dangerous flooding," said Congresswoman Julia Letlow. “This facility will ensure we have the best-trained first responders in the country, deliver long-term public safety results, and save lives.”
