Letlow secures $6.6 million for major infrastructure projects in Ouachita Parish
OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KTVE/KARD) — Rep. Julia Letlow has secured $6.6 million in Community Project Funding to support three major infrastructure projects across Ouachita Parish, targeting improvements to highways, storm drainage, and sewer systems in Monroe and West Monroe.
The funding, approved as part of the FY 2026 transportation bill signed into law Tuesday, includes three separate $2.2 million allocations:
- Capels Road Corridor Reconstruction (Ouachita Parish): The project will complete the rebuilding of 2.5 miles of Capels Road, stretching from the intersection of Capels Road and Winnfield Road to Marion Sims Road.
- City-Wide Storm Drainage & Sanitary Sewer Upgrades (Monroe): Funds will support stormwater and sewer system improvements throughout downtown Monroe, addressing aging infrastructure and reducing flooding issues.
- Downing Pines Road Improvements (West Monroe): The project will add a turn lane from Downing Pines Road to Thomas Road and repair approximately 1.7 miles of roadway between Thomas Road and U.S. 80.
Letlow said the funding represents a key investment in safety, growth, and long-term development in the region.
“Ouachita Parish is where my roots lie and will always have a special place in my heart. Quality infrastructure is crucial to improving safety, economic development, and quality of life in communities like Monroe and West Monroe,” she said. “I’m always working to give Northeast Louisiana a powerful seat at the table, and I will continue securing important infrastructure wins for our region on the Appropriations Committee.
