As Julia Letlow's influence grows in Congress, she opens new office in this Louisiana city
Republican U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow, Louisiana's only woman in Congress whose influence continues to grow in Washington, has opened a district office back home in the state's capital city to reflect the new boundaries that frame her 5th Congressional District.
Letlow's Baton Rouge office is at 7932 Wrenwood Blvd., Suite C. She continues to operate her district offices in Monroe and Hammond.
"Representing the capital region in Congress is an honor and a privilege, and I'm proud to have a district office in Baton Rouge dedicated to delivering top-notch constituent services," Letlow said in a statement. "Since January, my team and I have had a constant presence here as we serve the capital region."
Letlow's 5th Congressional District boundaries underwent a dramatic shift under redistricting in 2024, shedding population hubs of Alexandria and much of Monroe while taking in much of Baton Rouge and the capital region, including LSU's main campus.
She continues to represent a smaller part of Ouachita, her home parish, the Florida parishes and all of rural northeastern Louisiana, which is dominated by agriculture interests, but the 5th District now takes in 42% of what had been the 6th District with Ascension, East Baton Rouge and Livingston parishes.
The sprawling 5th District includes all or parts of 21 parishes, more than any other of Louisiana's six congressional districts.
Despite the radical boundary changes, Letlow was re-elected to a third term last fall with a landslide first-ballot victory, securing 63% of the vote.
Letlow is considered a rising star in Congress.
She is a member of the powerful Appropriations Committee that controls the nation's purse strings and was elected by her colleagues to the panel that determines what Republicans get plum committee seats in the GOP-controlled House.
Letlow was elected by her colleagues in Region 8 that includes Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi to serve on the 33-member House Republican Steering Committee.
